What is the Feminist Zine?
We’re bringing together feminist voices, artists, activists and creators to celebrate and interrogate what being an intersectional feminist means today and into the future.
The FEMINIST ZINE is our inaugural collection of contributions from feminists around the world highlighting some of this moment’s most pressing political issues.
You’ll find art, interviews, photography, questions, challenges, words of wisdom, and toolkits from your favorite feminist icons, reproductive justice advocates, trans activists, Indigenous artists, and more. With this zine, we hope to inspire you to take action towards a more feminist future.
Issue 01 was made possible by WeTransfer.
What does being a feminist mean to you?
☁︎
What does being a feminist mean to you? ☁︎
What this first issue about?
We posed the question “What does being a feminist mean to you?” Building on the foundation of the Combahee River Collective and the work of Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw, intersectional feminism emphasizes the overlapping of identities and context in how we experience systems of oppression. By asking our community to reflect on their individual experiences, we received a range of responses – proving that feminism today is shaped by the multitude of ways we come together in solidarity and struggle, uplifting one another as we work towards our collective liberation. This digital zine reflects the vastness of the feminist movement today.
What can I expect to be in the zine?
Our contributors bring intersectional feminism to life though artwork, photography, poetry, and other creative mediums that animate all the ways feminism exists in the world, celebrating our collective practice and how we can uplift one another. You’ll also find interviews, essays, reading lists and resources to help you learn beyond the zine, as well as toolkits to support you in taking action for a feminist future.
