FEMINIST x SEEDING SOVEREIGNTY Salon Dinner - Climate Week Edition
Ahead of NYC Climate Week, FEMINIST, in partnership with Seeding Sovereignty, hosted an intimate gathering of activists, artists, and changemakers in the environmental and climate justice space with a set intention: to foster community and collaboration outside of individual silos so that we can build a more just future together.
The salon took place in Tribeca on a private rooftop on Thursday, September 14. During the night, FEMINIST Co-Founders Aisha Becker-Burrowes, Blair Imani, and Ky Polanco posed the questions “What is your superpower” and “What is something you are most proud of this year” to which many in the room humbly shared the ways in which their activism has sparked change in the world, effected policy change, or inspired others to take action. Others shared how they took big leaps in their careers, are welcoming new life transitions or are embracing the power of rest. The intimate conversation was nourished with ingredients from Nature’s Path Organics and Taim, as well as beverages from Big Naturals and Better Booch.
Salons have a long deep-seeded history within the feminist space and served as an important space for the exchange of ideas. The evening and conversations – inspired by this legacy – had people at the center and provided space for intergenerational and intersectional dialogue, which is a beautiful reflection of our shared community, values, and mission. In reflecting on each other’s superpowers, we found commonality as communicators, organizers, and empaths while also recognizing how our unique strengths and passions allow us to collaborate and build power together.
