These 10 individuals are leading the transgender rights movement.

Transgender folks are experiencing unprecedented legislative and societal discrimination with nearly 600 anti-trans bills having been introduced in the US alone. (Trans Legislation Tracker). These types of legislation place the health, safety, and freedoms of transgender people at risk, often targeting gender-affirming health care, LGBTQ+ teachers and students in schools, and drag shows.

 

Raquel Willis

is a Black transgender activist and writer who uses her platform to advocate for an end to police profiling of trans women of color and mass incarceration. She co-founded Transgender Week of Visibility and Action and co-organized Trans Liberation Tuesday.

is an activist, stage/film costume designer, and founder of Black Trans Liberation. She is committed to advocating for marginalized communities, specifically black trans people, and her passion is creating access for unsung heroes and people who are often overlooked.

co-founded and serves as the Executive Director of The Marsha P. Johnson Institute, 
an organization committed to protecting and defending the rights of Black Trans people. She has led campaigns, including the #Say-HerName National Day of Action and the first-ever National Day of Action for BLACK Trans Women in 2015.

is the first trans athlete to compete in any sport on an NCAA D1 men’s team, and the only to have competed for all four years. He is a speaker and respected advocate for inclusion, body-positivity, and mental health awareness.
