The State of Abortion Access with Planned Parenthood
It has been an entire year since the Supreme Court draft leak raised the alarm that the Supreme Court would vote to overturn Roe v. Wade, effectively eliminating federal protections for abortion rights in the United States. This historic moment signaled the newly re-emerged battle for reproductive justice that would lay ahead.
Even now, a year later, we are still grappling with the ongoing battle for reproductive justice in the United States. More than 325 anti-abortion bills have been filed in 47 states this legislative session alone, according to Planned Parenthood. The numbers continue to grow as there have already been 19 bans or restrictions on abortions nationwide.
The fight for abortion access is part of the larger struggle for gender equity, racial justice, and social justice. Abortion access and reproductive justice have been at the forefront of the feminist struggle for decades - a battle for the fundamental human right to make decisions about our own bodies.
FEMINIST Co-founder Aisha Becker-Burrowes conducted a live discussion with Danika Severino Wynn, CNM, Vice President of Abortion Access at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, to talk about the current state of abortion access since the overturn.
