Feminist Talks: In conversation with Elle Moxley
📣 The liberation of us all is bound up in queer and trans liberation!
It’s #PrideMonth and we can’t talk about pride without talking about the legacy of Marsha P. Johnson, an icon and pioneer in the fight for transgender rights and visibility.
This month, FEMINIST co-founder Aisha Becker-Burrowes went live with Elle Moxley, Founder and Executive Director of the Marsha P. Johnson Institute to reflect on the importance of centering Black Trans and Gender Expansive people during Pride Month.
“To be an intersectional feminist you must have an analysis and a practice around dismantling anti-blackness.” — Elle Moxley
💡The Marsha P. Johnson Institute (MPJI) protects and defends the human rights of BLACK transgender people. They do this by sharing knowledge, providing resources, and engaging people to support their mission.
🌟 The MPJI was founded both as a response to the murders of BLACK trans women and women of color and how that is connected to our exclusion from social justice issues, namely racial, gender, and reproductive justice, as well as gun violence. For more information on their vision and values, visit Marshap.org/where-we-started/vision-and-values-movement/.
