To Be or To Become is a collection of photos that I made from 2020 and 2021 shot on Polaroid600, 35mm film and iPhone are a representation of femininity and sexuality from a female perspective. These images and zine are my way of reframing negative experiences connected with sex and sexuality as a young woman and taking the power back by showing women the way we see ourselves - pure, free, raw and natural.

We asked Kristina Shakht what feminism means to her she answered:
“Feminist has such a big meaning honestly. I am a feminist for sure and all the art and photography work that I do is gravitated towards changing a narrative, changing the way we as women see ourselves. It’s first of all coming from me working and discovering all these patterns in myself and reframing them through photography and digital art. Couple years ago I realized that there is so much love and support in the idea of feminism, in the idea of being there for the whole womanhood through your work, art and daily little things, being inspired but also being inspiring. I promised myself that this year I’ll start walking in every room as myself, that I’ll stop shrinking to fit others' perspectives, I won’t change the way I speak or move anymore. And this thought alone even without action gives me so much energy and inner power. I'm kinda at the point where I figured that to be a feminist for others I need to start fully being one for myself.” –Kristina Shakht
